 Craven Regional Medical Center is at the heart of Craven Health Care. This 313 bed, full service facility houses a full compliment of inpatient services. In addition to comfortable medical/surgical areas, the medical center has dedicated units for neurosurgical, intensive and intermediate care, women's care, pediatric care and cancer care. Sophisticated surgical suites and leading edge diagnostic and therapeutic services provide acute care for the 15,000 inpatients we care for each year.  It was the first eastern North Carolina hospital to offer cardiac rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. Likewise, the medical center's oncology services lead the area in chemotherapy and radiation therapy on an inpatient or outpatient basis, including support services. 

Craven Outpatient Care

Recognizing that the future of health care will be centered around outpatient services, Craven Health Care is proud of its strength in this important area. Two freestanding centers, conveniently located near many physician offices, are dedicated to outpatient care. Craven Diagnostic Center provides radiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CT scanning, stereotactic mammography and bone densitometry. Craven Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art complex built to accomodate the growing demand for outpatient surgical technology while providing for patient convenience and comfort. Adjacent to Craven Diagnostic Center, this facility houses numerous surgical suites equipped with the latest technology and rooms to allow for extended patient observation if necessary.

Beginning with coastal Carolina’s first cardiac catheterization performed in July, 1988, Craven has continually expanded its cardiac services to include the latest in interventional and surgical procedures. Craven has built a comprehensive cardiac program led by skilled physicians and highly trained cardiac support staff. Cardiac catheterization is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of heart disease. Interventional cardiac procedures including atherectomy, angioplasty, cardiac brachytherapy and stent placement open cardiac arteries allowing blood to flow freely, which can prevent damage from a heart attack and minimize the need for surgery. When surgery is the recommended treatment, our skilled cardiac surgeons employ the latest surgical techniques, including off-pump coronary artery bypass and valve replacement, to restore the heart to optimum performance. Since 1993, thousands of coastal Carolinians have benefited from the lifesaving cardiac catheterization and surgery they had performed at Craven Regional Medical Center.
